Imaging God through our sexual identity
Big idea:
We're created male and female to image God through our distinct gender identity
Sex is referred to as birth sex or male/female gender
Gender is derived from our sex
1. Our gender identity is derived from our biological sex
In creation order that is how God create for male and female to image Him
But in today's society, people are choosing the gender they most identify with in their later life.
Genesis 1:27
So God created man in His own image (line 1)
In the image of God he created him (line 2)
Male and female he created them (line 3)
The author is saying,
The image of God is in God's male and female creation from their debut on earth
We image God right from the beginning right in our mothers womb
Psalm 139:13-16
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.
15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion,
as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.
16 You saw me before I was born.
Every day of my life was recorded in your book.
Every moment was laid out
before a single day had passed.
When God made you, He did not make a mistake
Your feelings and experience may be different in as later life. But it is in this confusion that we must grab on God even more so.
God has already determined and assigned your gender to you right from the beginning in your mother's womb
It is not constructed from society
Transgender is a person whose gender identity or gender expression differs from their birth sex
(they think their gender is in a Wrong body)
Non binary (NB)
One who identified as neither male nor female and sees themselves outside the gender binary of male and female
Gender Dysphoria (gender identity disorder)
The feeling of discomfort in identifying with the gender associated with their biological sex
Gender non conforming (GNC)
One who expresses his or her gender outside the traditional norms associated with Masculine or femininity
Putting labels on any individual is unloving and unchristian. We as human beings shouldn't be doing.
2. Our distinct gender identity as male or female must be preserved
What is christian masculinity or femininity?
Genesis 2:18
Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.”
E.zer
- rescuer
- strength
- might
God never intended for female to be subordinate or subservient with men. Although God created woman later than man but not lesser than man.
Why create woman later?
Because God wanted male and female to image Him by combining their biological differences
1 Timothy 4:4
Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks.
Good
- Proper
- beautiful
- valuable
- Morally Virtuous
2 Corinthians 3:18
So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
Let us embrace our birth sex
Let's image God through our sexual identity
God makes no mistakes!
You're not God's mistake
It is possible for sin to mess up the reality of the truth in you!
We ought to be renewing our minds through God's word
Romans 12:2 NLT
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Let us not fight the wrong battle. We're up against sin!

Inter-Generational Living
by Pastor Dinah Lee
Psalm 33:11-12
The counsel of the Lord stands forever, The plans of His heart from generation to generation. 12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, The people whom He has chosen for His own inheritance.
To those who are younger, your attitude towards the older ones :
Psalm 71:17-18
O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. 18 And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your [a]strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.
Leviticus 19:32
‘You shall rise up before the grayheaded and honor the [a]aged, and you shall revere your God; I am the Lord.
1 Timothy 5:1-2
Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers, 2 the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, in all purity.
To those who are older, your attitude towards the younger ones:
Proverbs 22:4
The reward of humility and the [a]fear of the Lord Are riches, honor and life.
Malachi 4:6
He will [a]restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a [b]curse.”
Psalm 33:11-12

Settling into the New Normal - A new centre : Furnishing
by Pastor Meng Chiam
Every design starts w an original intention. A blueprint etc
Similarly God already had a purpose when He instructed Moses.
Exodus 26:30
Set up the tabernacle according to the plan shown you on the mountain.
The intent and heart behind the furnishing instruction
Big idea:
Yahweh the holy one desires to dwell with his people.
Exodus 36-38
1. Yahweh desired to dwell with His family
Exodus 19:12
Put limits for the people around the mountain and tell them, ‘Be careful that you do not approach the mountain or touch the foot of it. Whoever touches the mountain is to be put to death.
Only Moses was allowed to go to mountaintop
Exodus 25:8-9
“Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them. 9 Make this tabernacle and all its furnishings exactly like the pattern I will show you.
Yahweh tangible presence could dwell amongst His people
The blueprint of the Tabernacle displayed a sacred space, for God to dwell with His people.
Yahweh Himself wanted to create this sacred space.
Amazingly this construction echoed the garden of Eden
# Garden of Eden is God first attempt to allow his presence to be among His people
No man could see God's face and live
Exodus 33:20
But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live.”
The Tabernacle was God's another attempt to allow His presence to be among His people.
The concept of the Tabernacle was both God's residence and presence in the camp of Israel.
The design of the Tabernacle was a prophetic one to point us to Jesus Christ.
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
1 Corinthians 3:16
Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?
Revelation 21:3
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
Yahweh demonstrates His holiness through sacred space.
We need to make room for God to come into our lives
Just like the tabernacle is always in the centre of the Israelites, God's presence is always with us anytime, anywhere
Within the sacred space, there were gradations of holiness
1. The Seven-branch Menorah (or Lampstand)
2. The Altar of Incense
3. The Table of Shewbread
A. The Courtyard
Jesus said He is the Way, the Truth and the Life... (John 14:6)
- bronze altar
- bronze basin
Bronze overlay - was symbolic for God's judgement
Sacrifices - was a reminder to the Israelites of their sinful nature
Basin - was placed before Tabernacle to demarcate preparation for the Priest
B. The Holy Place
Exodus 30:17-21
Then the Lord said to Moses, 18 “Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. 20 Whenever they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting a food offering to the Lord, 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come.”
Lamp kept burning symbolises Yahweh presence is active and always among His people.
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
7 Lamp Menorah - symbolises Tree of Life in Eden
Incense - symbolises sweet aroma
Shewbread - symbolises God's fellowship with His people
Leviticus 24:5-9
“Take the finest flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of an ephah[a] for each loaf. 6 Arrange them in two stacks, six in each stack, on the table of pure gold before the Lord. 7 By each stack put some pure incense as a memorial[b] portion to represent the bread and to be a food offering presented to the Lord. 8 This bread is to be set out before the Lord regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. 9 It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in the sanctuary area, because it is a most holy part of their perpetual share of the food offerings presented to the Lord.”
C. The Holy of Holies
- only High Priest could enter once a year
Hebrews 9:6-7
When everything had been arranged like this, the priests entered regularly into the outer room to carry on their ministry. 7 But only the high priest entered the inner room, and that only once a year, and never without blood, which he offered for himself and for the sins the people had committed in ignorance.
Exodus 25:17-22
“Make an atonement cover of pure gold—two and a half cubits long and a cubit and a half wide. 18 And make two cherubim out of hammered gold at the ends of the cover. 19 Make one cherub on one end and the second cherub on the other; make the cherubim of one piece with the cover, at the two ends. 20 The cherubim are to have their wings spread upward, overshadowing the cover with them. The cherubim are to face each other, looking toward the cover. 21 Place the cover on top of the ark and put in the ark the tablets of the covenant law that I will give you. 22 There, above the cover between the two cherubim that are over the ark of the covenant law, I will meet with you and give you all my commands for the Israelites.
Leviticus 16
The Lord spoke to Moses after the death of the two sons of Aaron who died when they approached the Lord. 2 The Lord said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses into the Most Holy Place behind the curtain in front of the atonement cover on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear in the cloud over the atonement cover. 3 “This is how Aaron is to enter the Most Holy Place: He must first bring a young bull for a sin offering[a] and a ram for a burnt offering. 4 He is to put on the sacred linen tunic, with linen undergarments next to his body; he is to tie the linen sash around him and put on the linen turban. These are sacred garments; so he must bathe himself with water before he puts them on. 5 From the Israelite community he is to take two male goats for a sin offering and a ram for a burnt offering. 6 “Aaron is to offer the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household. 7 Then he is to take the two goats and present them before the Lord at the entrance to the tent of meeting. 8 He is to cast lots for the two goats—one lot for the Lord and the other for the scapegoat.[b] 9 Aaron shall bring the goat whose lot falls to the Lord and sacrifice it for a sin offering. 10 But the goat chosen by lot as the scapegoat shall be presented alive before the Lord to be used for making atonement by sending it into the wilderness as a scapegoat. 11 “Aaron shall bring the bull for his own sin offering to make atonement for himself and his household, and he is to slaughter the bull for his own sin offering. 12 He is to take a censer full of burning coals from the altar before the Lord and two handfuls of finely ground fragrant incense and take them behind the curtain. 13 He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die. 14 He is to take some of the bull’s blood and with his finger sprinkle it on the front of the atonement cover; then he shall sprinkle some of it with his finger seven times before the atonement cover. 15 “He shall then slaughter the goat for the sin offering for the people and take its blood behind the curtain and do with it as he did with the bull’s blood: He shall sprinkle it on the atonement cover and in front of it. 16 In this way he will make atonement for the Most Holy Place because of the uncleanness and rebellion of the Israelites, whatever their sins have been. He is to do the same for the tent of meeting, which is among them in the midst of their uncleanness. 17 No one is to be in the tent of meeting from the time Aaron goes in to make atonement in the Most Holy Place until he comes out, having made atonement for himself, his household and the whole community of Israel. 18 “Then he shall come out to the altar that is before the Lord and make atonement for it. He shall take some of the bull’s blood and some of the goat’s blood and put it on all the horns of the altar. 19 He shall sprinkle some of the blood on it with his finger seven times to cleanse it and to consecrate it from the uncleanness of the Israelites. 20 “When Aaron has finished making atonement for the Most Holy Place, the tent of meeting and the altar, he shall bring forward the live goat. 21 He is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task. 22 The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness. 23 “Then Aaron is to go into the tent of meeting and take off the linen garments he put on before he entered the Most Holy Place, and he is to leave them there. 24 He shall bathe himself with water in the sanctuary area and put on his regular garments. Then he shall come out and sacrifice the burnt offering for himself and the burnt offering for the people, to make atonement for himself and for the people. 25 He shall also burn the fat of the sin offering on the altar. 26 “The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp. 27 The bull and the goat for the sin offerings, whose blood was brought into the Most Holy Place to make atonement, must be taken outside the camp; their hides, flesh and intestines are to be burned up. 28 The man who burns them must wash his clothes and bathe himself with water; afterward he may come into the camp. 29 “This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: On the tenth day of the seventh month you must deny yourselves[c] and not do any work—whether native-born or a foreigner residing among you— 30 because on this day atonement will be made for you, to cleanse you. Then, before the Lord, you will be clean from all your sins. 31 It is a day of sabbath rest, and you must deny yourselves; it is a lasting ordinance. 32 The priest who is anointed and ordained to succeed his father as high priest is to make atonement. He is to put on the sacred linen garments 33 and make atonement for the Most Holy Place, for the tent of meeting and the altar, and for the priests and all the members of the community. 34 “This is to be a lasting ordinance for you: Atonement is to be made once a year for all the sins of the Israelites.” And it was done, as the Lord commanded Moses.
The above passage shows the elaborate preparation, rituals, cleansing before entering into the holy of holies.
The Old Testament sacrifical system could not completely address the issue of sin.
Hebrews 10:11
Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.
Our Lord Jesus is the perfect sacrifical lamb to atone for our sins once and for all.
Hebrews 7:26-27
Such a high priest truly meets our need—one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 27 Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself.
Matthew 27:50-51
And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. 51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split
