Big Idea:
The holy spirit is not a force to be used, but a divine Person who relates to, speaks to and leads us.
John 14:15-26
“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. [16] I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; [17] that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. [18] “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. [19] After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. [20] In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. [21] He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” [22] Judas (not Iscariot) *said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” [23] Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. [24] He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me. [25] “These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. [26] But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
The Father will send them the Holy Spirit
He is fully God, the 3rd person of the Godhead
He has a name emotion will and a personality he interacts with us who can be affected by us, Jesus call Holy Spirit as our helper
He's a legal advocate who stands with us being conviction to sin
A teacher
A comforter
Holy Spirit continues with what Jesus was doing
Greek word is Parakletos
- One who comes alongside us to help us
The Holy Spirit is not a force to be used - He is a divine Person who comes us to uelp us as an advocate, teacher and comforter.
John 14:17
that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.
Only given to believers because He dwells with us and in us.
Jesus use the word know not intellectual knowing but experiential knowing. HS was already alongside us
Jesus was pointing to a new reality that woild come after His death, resurrection, and ascension, when the Holy Spirit would dwell within them. That soeaks of Intimacy and Permanence.
Holy Spirit will not come and go but continually dwells with us
We can connect relationally with the Holy Spirit
John 14:18
“I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
Holy Spirit is like a physical person like Jesus was with His disciples
Through the Holy Spirit we are brought into a relationship with the Father and we are not orphans
Romans 8:15-16
For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” [16] The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,
He bears witness in our hearts and testify that God is our holy father
The Holy Spirit personally assures and reassures us that we belong to the Father
Application 1:
Develop intimacy with the Holy spirit
How do we do that?
How to develop intimacy with the Holy Spirit?
1. Be aware of His presence
2. Seek to know Him more
3. Speak in tongues
Understand His character, seek to experience Him, know Him personally
The Holy Spirit personally leads and Transforms us
John 14:25-26
“These things I have spoken to you while abiding with you. [26] But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.
One who is called to come alongside to teach us all things (not worldly knowledge) the truth about Jesus and reminds us about everything that Jesus has said and taught
Holy Spirit lead us from within, Prompting us, reminding us, guiding us
Galatians 5:16
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
Walking by the Spirit is a lifestyle of daily dependence on and obedience to the Holy Spirit
Walking by the Spirit requires us to stay close, follow His lead, and trust where He is guiding us.
There is a constant battle between Holy Spirit and our self-centred human will
Application 2:
Listen to the Holy Spirit
How to listen to His voice?
1. Be ready to obey when the Holy Spirit speaks
- He is ever willing and ready to speak to us
- What is the posture of our hearts?
- We are less inclined to hear His voice when we put up resistance
- do it quickly
2. Be familiar with God's word
- Parakletos will remind you of what word of God said
- God has already revealed His wisdom through his word
3. Be silent before God
- we are filled with all sorts of noices now
- daily be quiet in God's presence for 5 to 10 minutes
- connect with Holy Spirit to be with Him, not ask for things
Release anger and frustration to the Holy Spirit

Mothers Day
by Wan Leng
John 19:26-27
When Jesus then saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing nearby, He *said to His mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” [27] Then He *said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” From that hour the disciple took her into his own household.
Jesus paused for something deeply personal in His final moment, He made provision for Mary - Mary pain and future, to her security and well being
Every person no matter how powerful, gifted you came into this world through a mother. There is a mother who laboured not only in child birth, in prayer, patience and perseverance. To provide as far as you are able and this glorify our Father
Honour is not conditional and not obligation and certainly not because of any act. It is following the footsteps of Jesus and choosing to love because He first love
Is Mary a perfect mother? Of course not!
Jesus 12 year old, Mary left Jesus behind
Worry less about making perfect decision and focus more on loving them
Anxious children are raised by anxious parents
You will not get everything right. God honour faithfulness over flawlessness
Children need to grow up seeing faith fueled parents
Mary showed remarkable faithfulness and obedience
Mary sought to understand Jesus ministry
Motherhood is not about lalluby or cradle moments but also about cross moments and crossroads but keep believing God's promises will come to pass even beyond what I can see
The God who bring Resurrection will bring out of the cross hope, redemption and new life
Mary could not stop or remove the pain at Jesus crucifixion but she could be present. Stay through every season instead of helping like octopus
Mothers are not kaypohs, their love carry you even when you cannot carry yourself
Our children are people of destiny. God will never let go of them even if we let go. Our children first belong to God first
My role is to bring Godly influence in my children formation
Neither am I a random choice, I am chosen. Parenting is not ownership but stewardship requiring surrendering and release
Every child is a divine trust. Every life we influence is a God-given responsibility. If God has placed a child in your care, you have a mission from Him.
A sacred exchange took place to Mary when Jesus said to Mary and John.
Why didn't Jesus said Mary go back to your biological sons?
Possibly at that time jesus biological brothers did not yet believe in Jesus
Jesus was forming a new kind of family, a family of God by faith and obedience to the father, family beyond bloodline
Matthew 12:50
For whoever does the will of My Father who is in heaven, he is My brother and sister and mother.”
No one stands at the cross stands alone
God gives people who Stand in the gap, embody care and presence not bound by blood but by love
Who is your 'Mary'?
Who is your 'John'?
Technology can never replace presence
we are not just individuals being redeemed. We are a family being formed, a family of disciples, walking this road together, following Jesus om the way of the cross.

Producing pearls
by Pastor Esther Story
An untroubled oyster will not produce a pearl. It needs an irritant that shouldn't be there to provide it to produce nekra
Maybe our prayer to God to remove something in our lives doesn't come immediately
Psalm 126
When the Lord restored the fortunes of[a] Zion, we were like those who dreamed.[b] 2 Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” 3 The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy. 4 Restore our fortunes,[c] Lord, like streams in the Negev. 5 Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy. 6 Those who go out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with them.
This psalm spoke of God bringing people back from exile, the people of Judah. Some lost their lives in the process and some lost their loved ones
Change will come eventually
V5 and V6 suggest there is something we can do in the middle of weeping, tough seasons. It means we can and how we respond, what we sow and continue to sow, to be intentional so we will reap with songs of joy.
You've let it get infected because of someone clumsy words...
What we do in our pain matter cos it shapes us
1. Consider Hannah (She cannot conceive a child)
"Pour out your heart to the lord"
(I was pouring out my soul to the lord 1 Samuel 1:15)
- don't hold back your heart to the lord
2. David battle with Saul (he's being pursue by Saul)
"Keep thanks & praise alive"
(I will extol the lord at all times psalm 34:1)
- it activates faith and changes my heart condition and circumstances in my life
3. Joseph (sold as slave)
"Forgiveness"
(Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:19-20)
- forgiveness affects mental physical and wellbeing
4. James
"Persevere"
(let perseverance finish it's work so that you may be mature complete not lacking anything James 1:4)
- if no grit no pearl. No pain no perseverance. Don't give up
5. Jesus
"Relinquish"
(Father if you are willing take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done Luke 22:42)
- it is my will that I have to relinguish, even if it's not the outcome I wanted. Let it go, even and especially you can't see it
I would not change the script, but I can come back rejoicing carrying sheaves. My life is not good but He is good
John 12:24
Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
The seed will remains a single seed unless it is being relinguish

Kingdom gospel - Q&A
by Pastor Meng Cham
Reception of the Gospel:
1. Starts with our acknowledgement of Christ Jesus as the rightful King of our lives, which
2. Results in the benefits of the forgiveness of sins and the blessings of reconciliation with God
The right order is King first, then Saviour!
Gospel is about the kingdom
Has the gospel changed?
Does allegiance undermine grace
Big Idea:
The kingdom gospel reveals the full story of God's restoration:
Jesus saves us by grace, calls us to follow Him as King, and promises a restored future.
Kingdom gospel is a fuller gospel
- What Christ has done
- what does it mean to follow him
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
Acts 2:36
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Faith has 2 components:
Believe on one side and Faithfulness on another side
Question 1
Has the gospel changed?
No, the gospel has always been about the King and His kingdom
2. The Grace that leads to Allegiance
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
We're saved from following the fall of this world, a dead end
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Titus 3:8
This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
Question 2
Does allegiance undermine grace?
No, Grace leads to allegiance
Change is not works
Good works don't cancel grace, it is the evidence of what grace has done
Grace is not lazy. Grace makes us work even harder
We're not saved just because we said a prayer of repentance. King first then Saviour. Christ came to rule our lives
Key Truths:
- Grace is what God freely gives us
- Allegiance is how we respond to God's grace
- The gospel begins with what Jesus has done, not what we must do.
3. God's Edenic vision Fulfilled
Key Truths:
- God will renew creation
- We will be flourishing as God's family
- Pain, injustice and death will be destroyed forever
- Sin will not return, holiness will be perfected
- We will live as God intended for us, ruling and reigning with Christ
Question 3
What kind of future does the gospel promise?
The fulfillment of God's Edenic Vision
