An untroubled oyster will not produce a pearl. It needs an irritant that shouldn't be there to provide it to produce nekra
Maybe our prayer to God to remove something in our lives doesn't come immediately
Psalm 126
When the Lord restored the fortunes of[a] Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.[b]
2 Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.
Then it was said among the nations,
“The Lord has done great things for them.”
3 The Lord has done great things for us,
and we are filled with joy.
4 Restore our fortunes,[c] Lord,
like streams in the Negev.
5 Those who sow with tears
will reap with songs of joy.
6 Those who go out weeping,
carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy,
carrying sheaves with them.
This psalm spoke of God bringing people back from exile, the people of Judah. Some lost their lives in the process and some lost their loved ones
Change will come eventually
V5 and V6 suggest there is something we can do in the middle of weeping, tough seasons. It means we can and how we respond, what we sow and continue to sow, to be intentional so we will reap with songs of joy.
You've let it get infected because of someone clumsy words...
What we do in our pain matter cos it shapes us
1. Consider Hannah (She cannot conceive a child)
"Pour out your heart to the lord"
(I was pouring out my soul to the lord 1 Samuel 1:15)
- don't hold back your heart to the lord
2. David battle with Saul (he's being pursue by Saul)
"Keep thanks & praise alive"
(I will extol the lord at all times psalm 34:1)
- it activates faith and changes my heart condition and circumstances in my life
3. Joseph (sold as slave)
"Forgiveness"
(Don't be afraid. Am I in the place of God? You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Genesis 50:19-20)
- forgiveness affects mental physical and wellbeing
4. James
"Persevere"
(let perseverance finish it's work so that you may be mature complete not lacking anything James 1:4)
- if no grit no pearl. No pain no perseverance. Don't give up
5. Jesus
"Relinquish"
(Father if you are willing take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done Luke 22:42)
- it is my will that I have to relinguish, even if it's not the outcome I wanted. Let it go, even and especially you can't see it
I would not change the script, but I can come back rejoicing carrying sheaves. My life is not good but He is good
John 12:24
Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.
The seed will remains a single seed unless it is being relinguish

Kingdom gospel - Q&A
by Pastor Meng Cham
Reception of the Gospel:
1. Starts with our acknowledgement of Christ Jesus as the rightful King of our lives, which
2. Results in the benefits of the forgiveness of sins and the blessings of reconciliation with God
The right order is King first, then Saviour!
Gospel is about the kingdom
Has the gospel changed?
Does allegiance undermine grace
Big Idea:
The kingdom gospel reveals the full story of God's restoration:
Jesus saves us by grace, calls us to follow Him as King, and promises a restored future.
Kingdom gospel is a fuller gospel
- What Christ has done
- what does it mean to follow him
1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
Acts 2:36
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Faith has 2 components:
Believe on one side and Faithfulness on another side
Question 1
Has the gospel changed?
No, the gospel has always been about the King and His kingdom
2. The Grace that leads to Allegiance
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9 not by works, so that no one can boast.
We're saved from following the fall of this world, a dead end
Ephesians 2:10
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Titus 3:8
This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.
Hebrews 10:24
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,
Question 2
Does allegiance undermine grace?
No, Grace leads to allegiance
Change is not works
Good works don't cancel grace, it is the evidence of what grace has done
Grace is not lazy. Grace makes us work even harder
We're not saved just because we said a prayer of repentance. King first then Saviour. Christ came to rule our lives
Key Truths:
- Grace is what God freely gives us
- Allegiance is how we respond to God's grace
- The gospel begins with what Jesus has done, not what we must do.
3. God's Edenic vision Fulfilled
Key Truths:
- God will renew creation
- We will be flourishing as God's family
- Pain, injustice and death will be destroyed forever
- Sin will not return, holiness will be perfected
- We will live as God intended for us, ruling and reigning with Christ
Question 3
What kind of future does the gospel promise?
The fulfillment of God's Edenic Vision

Long live the King
by Ps John Lin
Life is short and fragile
One breath is all it takes to make a different
Big idea:
The resurrection proves that Jesus is the true king and invited us to follow him
Matthew 28:1
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.
Matthew 28:5-7
The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”
Those disciples who went away when Jesus was crucified afraid that the authority will hunt them down. Why would they later been martyrs? Because they saw the resurrected king who lives forever

The resurrection proves that Jesus reigns as the true king
Christ is a title like "Messiah". Is not a surname
Israel was meant to be under God's rule but they rejected God. The Many kings instead of drawing the people close to God, they led the people away towards injustice and rebellion
Acts 2:32-36
God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear. 34 For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said, “‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand 35 until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’[a] 36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.”
Peter addressed to the crowd after Jesus resurrection
Lord - Authority over all things
Christ - God's Chosen King
Romans 15:12
And again, Isaiah says, “The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; in him the Gentiles will hope.”[a]
The root of Jesse will spring up
The resurrection of Jesus was not just a powerful moment or the end of a story. It was the beginning of His reign, the moment He was revealed as the true king over all creation. This king came with a purpose.
1 Corinthians 15
Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[a]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas,[b] and then to the Twelve. 6 After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8 and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born. 9 For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them—yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. 11 Whether, then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed. The Resurrection of the Dead 12 But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15 More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied. 20 But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his feet.”[c] Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be all in all. 29 Now if there is no resurrection, what will those do who are baptized for the dead? If the dead are not raised at all, why are people baptized for them? 30 And as for us, why do we endanger ourselves every hour? 31 I face death every day—yes, just as surely as I boast about you in Christ Jesus our Lord. 32 If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus with no more than human hopes, what have I gained? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.”[d] 33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”[e] 34 Come back to your senses as you ought, and stop sinning; for there are some who are ignorant of God—I say this to your shame. The Resurrection Body 35 But someone will ask, “How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?” 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37 When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38 But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. 39 Not all flesh is the same: People have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40 There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor. 42 So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43 it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44 it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45 So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”[f]; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47 The first man was of the dust of the earth; the second man is of heaven. 48 As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the heavenly man, so also are those who are of heaven. 49 And just as we have borne the image of the earthly man, so shall we[g] bear the image of the heavenly man. 50 I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51 Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52 in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53 For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”[h] 55 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”[i] 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. 58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.
Instead of taking the throne He went to the cross. Sin no longer has the final word, Death no longer has the final hold. Because King Jesus rose from the grave, the victory has been won
Jesus authority was never in questioned only my recognition was. Our ignorance didn't change His position, my recognition just change how I responded to Him. The resurrection is God's public declaration to the world that Jesus is King

The resurrection means we have New life now
Ephesians 2:1-3
As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh[a] and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath.
We are all following something in this life. Sometimes is following the crowd, following our gut feeling, following darker heavy influences that is pulling us away.
Without Jesus we are kind of like auto pilot. It is our auto nature to do the negative actions. We don't have to teach a child to be selfish or to hurt another person.
Honestly it can be a trap when we make ourselves kings and queens of our own universe
We control outcome, our image so other people will start to like us etc we tend to gravitate and choose brokenness. Our fallen nature make us choose to stay away from God
We either end up broken or break the people around us
There is a better leader and a better King who wants us to be made alive instead of dead to the living of this world
Ephesians 2:4-6
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. 6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,
- It is because of God's Mercy not my willpower
- It is because of God's Great Love not my own strength
- It is because of what He gave up not my good enough
No earthly king will ever be able to save you only the resurrected king Jesus who have overcome the power of sin and death
