Mind The Gap!

Pastor Meng Cham

2 Thessalonicans 1:11,12
Ezekiel 22:30-31

Big Idea :
Resolve to be the one to intercede on behalf of people doomed to destruction

1. The Power of one individual : "I searched for a man"

A. the willingness of God to collaborate with individuals (by warning or interceding)
2 Peter 3:9

B. the individuals who changed destinies (Jonah, Abraham, Esther, Moses...)
Psalm 106:23

3 groups of people that we should pray for :
1. People who will not pray
2. People who pray yet God is not listening (Isaiah 59:1,2) referring to prebelievers
3. Believers who have been knocked down so hard that they don't have energy or desire to pray anymore

2. The Power of a different Spirit : "... among them"

A. the prevailing decadence - "them"
i. Prophets - abusing their position
ii. Priests - failing to distinguish between holy and profane
iii. Princes - justifying illicit acquisition
iv. People - oppressing the marginalized

B. the persistent Defiance - "going against the grain" (Ezekiel 9:4)
i. Compassion - for the afflicted
ii. Contention - against the apathetic
# Culture
- Condemn
- Critique
- Copy
- Consume
- Create

3. The Power of a single-minded commitment : "... who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before me for the land"

A. see the danger - "be watchmen" (Matthew 13:11)

B. Sympathize with the vulnerable - "be good hosts" (Mark 2:17)

C. Start with small steps - "Be handymen" (Nehemiah)

i. Pray with Compassion
ii. Learn and Understand
iii. Act with Discernment
iv. Correct with Courage
Hebrew 7:25

Don't stand on the Sidelines!
Ezekiel 13:4,5

Do stand in the Gap!
