Extraordinary Catch

Pastor Calvin Lee

Luke 5:1-11

# ACT 1
Work hard but no result
- work hard without God factor

- working hard is needful but may not be good enough

- whatever we are seeking to catch, do not leave God out of the equation. Let Him be the good shepherd leading us all the way

Luke 5:5
"Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything"

Psalm 127:1
"Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain."

# ACT 2
Trust and Obey

Luke 5:4
"Put out into deep water"

- stepping out into challenges, unknown or unfamiliar

- as we step out, we experience Him more and more, although it will not be easy

- don't just depend on our own human experience, or even expertise alone

- do it even when it does not make sense

Luke 5:5
"but because you say so, I will let down the nets"

# ACT 3
Abundance beyond expectation!

Luke 5:6-7
"They caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break"

"They came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink"

- where God leads, He always provides

- the impossible becomes possible when God is in it

# ACT 4
Beyond the blessing

Luke 5:8-11
"from now on you will fish for people"

- revelation brings deeper commitment

- occupation becomes a vocation

Billy Graham on Jesus : "Many people are willing to have Jesus as part of their lives as long as it doesn't cost them anything. They may even profess faith in Jesus and join a church. But Jesus to them is almost like an insurance policy - something they obtain and then forget about until they die. What keeps you from being a disciple?"
