Big idea:
Christ commands us to raise committed Disciple Makers who will persevere in disciple making
Disciple process challenge:
These 3 broad strokes contain many micro steps from the pre believers stage to that of a disciple maker
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Ephesians 4:11-13
So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13 until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
The intense of fivefold ministry are to equip God's people for the works of the ministry, to build up the body, to mature etc
The pastoral team equips the body and enable all believers to do disciple making. We will all stand before God to account for our participation in the great commission
The process of transformation of the inmost dimension of the human being, the heart, which is the same as the spirit or will.. it is...

2 Peter 1:5-7
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.
Partner with holy spirit for the inner transformation of your heart
Even the lord Jesus has difficulties dealing with his disciples in spiritual formation his disciple lives
Matthew 16:15-17
“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”
16 Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
17 Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
Matthew 16:21-23
Jesus Predicts His Death
21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life.
22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!”
23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
Stark change of tone in Peter just within 4 verses.
Another eg is James and John mother
Matthew 20:21
“What is it you want?” he asked.
She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”
We must be ready to handle messy spiritual formation issue when we embark in the disciple making process.
Accountability in the faith community with other believers
James 5:16
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
Through confession we bring healing into each others lives
Hebrews 13:17
Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
Spiritual leaders must give an account over believers.
Accountability : We need it to protect us from falling away from our relationship with God
Eg is speed check on road when we driving...
We need mutual accountability to hasten the process of deep transformation with us
