INVESTigate - Relational Wellness

by Ms Wan Leng

How many people do you think are present in a 2 persons conversation?
1. You
2. Me
3. The person I think I am
4. The person you think I am
5. The person I really am
6. The person you think you are
7. The person I think you are
8. The person you really are

Big idea:
God wants our relationships to demonstrate His love

1st foundational facts:We are created as relational beings.

Genesis 1:26-27
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

2nd foundational facts:We are made for community living.

Life giving communities emerge at the intersection of divine grace and human effort

Our relationship with self and others cannot be well without God

Relationship with self must start with our identity in Christ.
- I am created in the image of God.
- I am a child of God.
- I am redeemed and forgiven
- I am a new creation.
- I have a purpose and calling.

Not who or what I am but whose I am
Knowing our identity in Christ makes us overcomes struggles of unworthiness....

John 13:34-35
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Relational wellness is others focus

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Human needs to be free and be set free in the pursuits of wellness.

Everyone has internal struggles that directly impact their .... what impacts relational wellness is the question of what was and is our posture each time we hurt.

Isaiah 43:25
“I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.

We will become bitter, broken and ultimately in bondage if we keep the memories in a terabyte and finally terrorise the person of 30 years memories. By the power of the Holy Spirit, keep no records of wrong if we choose to and not to.

Proverbs 12:26
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Because there are only so few seeds in my life and I only have 24 hours.

Relational wellness is for the wellness of the Body of Christ.

I am because God is, and we are.
